Madoc Village Cruise Night with Freddy Vette
Every other Wednesday Madoc Village welcomes everyone to their Cruise Night.
Classic cars, motorcycles and trucks gather on Madoc’s St. Lawrence St. East to show off. Now in it’s third year the cruise night has been a success for local merchants, cruisers and spectators alike.
Originally settled in the early 19th century, Madoc was once the stop over for road-weary travellers headed from Ottawa to Toronto. Madoc Ont. is located at the junction of Highways #7 and #62. It has a population of 2197 as of 2011.
The cruise night is now in its 3rd season and has continued to grow in a large part to due to active involvement by it’s organizers, the municipality, and local business’. As well as door prizes and a 50/50 draw, they present a trophy to the best car, the best truck, and the best motorcycle at each cruise night.
Doug Hunter Ford, Madoc Ont. came on board as a major sponsor this year. As well as being a volunteer at the cruise night, local business man, Brad Freeman, Hidden Goldmine Bakery, picked the car trophy winner, at this week’s cruise night. This weeks winner was Don Sutherland, Norwood Ont. and his 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All types of vehicles are welcome.
“It is great to see all the locals out and enjoying the cars,” said Brad Freeman. “We always like to see the new faces!”
The business community has gotten behind the event wholeheartedly. There are more sponsors than awards. The June 24th cruise night had local radio personality, Freddy Vette, CJBQ 800 am Radio, and over 110 cars and their owners. The 50/50 draw win was $500 and the proceeds went to Heart of Hastings Hospice.
